Clear Aligners
FAQs
> Are clear aligners similar to Invisalign?
Yes! They are the same thing. Invisalign is just a brand of clear aligners.
> How long do you have to wear them throughout the day?
Ideally clear aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day. Our recommendation is to wear them whenever you are not eating.
> Do you sleep in them?
Yes
> What is the average length of time before my teeth will be straight?
For mild to moderate crowding, the average clear aligner case is 6-9 months of treatment time.
> Does insurance cover it?
Sometimes. In our experience about 50% of patients have orthodontic coverage with their dental insurance.
> Are clear aligners considered cosmetic treatment?
No! The purpose of straightening your teeth is much more than cosmetic. When you straighten your teeth you will benefit from significant hygiene and functional improvements. After straightening your teeth they will stay cleaner (therefore healthier) and your bite will be more even.
> What if I have TMJ problems?
Many times if a patient's bite is uneven it will contribute to TMJ pain/problems. So by straightening your teeth you are likely to relieve and improve TJM problems.
> What if I already wear a night guard for clenching/grinding?
Clear aligners fit over your teeth similarly to a night guard and therefore when wearing clear aligners you should not need to wear your night guard.
